Houston's BARC

Houston's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care (BARC aka Houston's animal control) kills approximately 30,000 animals every single year.  Many Houstonians are not aware that BARC exists and they certainly are not aware of the inhumane treatment that has been going on there for years.  We MUST make them aware so that they will speak up with us in our efforts to bring positive changes to BARC.  Thousands of people speaking up for the animals can make a big impact.

Please help us with this effort!  We need EVERY Houstonian to speak up with us.  If we don't, BARC will continue killing 30,000 animals every year for decades to come.

Gerry Fusco's Short term Goals

Email dated 09/18/09:

Team,

We at BARC took the 196-page report issued by Nathan and isolated some facility-related issues that I thought could be addressed fairly quickly. Many were already in progress so it is validating to see we were seeing some of the same things.

Please recognize these are just some of the facilities-related items he mentioned and understand that other operational things are already being addressed as many of you know. Anyway, just wanted to communicate with you on some fast actions we are taking and hope you recognize we will continue to drive to improved treatment of our friends. Feel free to circulate this. I only sent this to the e-mail addresses I had memorized!

Gerry
